2015 Barrie Dragon Boat Festival

CanadaDocks™ was proud to sponsor the 2015 Barrie Dragon Boat Festival. It’s been an honor to partner with a community event that supports such great causes. Since its inception the festival has raised over $1.5 million for local charities including the Barrie Public Library.

Floating Docks for The 2015 Barrie Dragon Boat Festival

Once again our team installed 4’x8’ Floating Dock Extensions onto the existing docks at the Barrie waterfront to help the racing contestants enter the 12.5 meter boats. Furthermore our 8’x72’ Floating Dock (made from an 8’x32 Floating Dock hinged onto an 8’x40’ Floating Dock) has now become a landmark at the Barrie waterfront. Throughout the year and of course on the big day, dragon boat contestants use the dock to access their boats, while entering through the beautiful gateway that was made in collaboration with RailingArt.com. We’ve been so thrilled with the feedback on the dock and gate installed last year.

Excitement and Fun on the Water

It was a fun filled day of excitement and competition. The festival not only has dragon boating, but delicious foods, amazing vendors and some serious entertainment. True to dragon boating roots the event even featured a dancing Chinese dragon. Each boating team represents the charity of their choice and takes on the responsibility of fundraising for them. This year the Dragon Slayers of Moore Packaging took the first place price in support of Alzheimers Society of Simcoe County. In second place was the Busch Buccaneers of Busch Systems in support of the Dekpor School Development Organisation, and in third was Jeff’s Junk in support of Hospice Simcoe. Three great teams supporting very noble causes.

Big thanks to everyone for another great year at the 2015 Barrie Dragon Boat Festival, it truly would not be the success it is without the amazing contestants and spectators that come out each year. We hope to see you again next year 🙂
