CanadaDocks traveled to Windy Point Lodge in Wawa, Ontario, to show you how easy it is to make a dock fly.
Our team set out on the 900km journey to Windy Point Lodge. This charming fishing village is a fisherman’s dream. An escape from the everyday hustle, offering a chance to get back to nature. Nine cabins set alongside Kabinakagmai Lake, where guests can fish for Walleye, Great Northern Pike, Jumbo Perch and Whitefish. CanadaDocks was happy to add to the tranquil environment with a 64′ long dock. This would allow guests to fish right off the end of the dock.
Floating docks were the obviously choice for this lake, given the drastically changing water levels throughout the seasons. We worked with Robert and Stephanie Watson, owners of Windy Point Lodge, to design the dock.

Out of all the dock companies in Ontario, CanadaDocks was the only choice for Windy Point Lodge. We were able to fit an entire dock kit, all of our tools, 4 staff, and their fishing equipment in only 2 float planes. Not only was it more efficient, it also helped to lower the cost of transporting all of the materials across the lake.
Our docks are packaged in 8’ x 1’ x 0.5’ boxes. We also use very minimal packaging within the boxes, which is crucial to a small fishing village that doesn’t have a lot of access to dispose of large materials. It is of the utmost importance to CanadaDocks to ensure that we are ecofriendly, from the design of our docks, to the minimal waste left behind.
The biggest reason our docks work so well via plane is how lightweight our system is. Our aluminum truss is made out of a single piece, ensuring that it is lighter than welded trusses. So it is lighter to transport, lighter to build, and lighter to install in the water.
The best part of the adventure? The CanadaDocks dock kit was so easy and quick to install, they had plenty of time for fishing.
